Actually Hank,
We've cut trees almost every season and will be cutting some more.
Hill erosion is accelerated by the wind working trees back and forth, their
roots losen the soil, allowing water to soften the hillside compaction.
Now on the other hand, try to use a little subtlety when running saws up
there and don't leave a mess and don't leave stumps.

Dan,
The slope is on State property and the folks in the building (Public Service
Commission) adjacent to the site might observe you "destroying" the slope.
I would advise you to not "trim" or cut around the area because if the State
of Kentucky gets offended and decides to fence off that area to stop access,
we (LASS & BSS) will have lost a great opportunity. I believe the LASS and
Bluegrass Soaring Society (BSS) only have access to that slope because we have
kept in the good graces of the Kentucky property managers.
Just one man's opinion.

Hello
My name is Dan Young . I live in Bowling Green KY, I was able to visit the
Frankfort site today and It looks like it would make some nice big air. I have
four small slope sites around BG but nothing like this. It reminded me of my
old hang gliding days. My friend and myself are planning to come up the next
weekend that it blows south. I was wondering if it would be OK to do some
trimming of the trees and bushes around the launch area. I now it would need to
be supervised by a LASS member. I rock climb and have the gear to do it
safely. If you guys would like our help just let me know and we will bring the
gear up when it is soarable. I sure wish I lived closer to Frankfort.
Thanks
Dan
