Okay only one reason to fly a 2.4 system in a Marauder...the Marauder is
made of wood about the only material that seems to be consistently 2.4 friendly.
I have the XtremePowerSystem unit in my 9303 (for this model only) because I
had the module and RX from Toledo's show., so I installed it. Obviously
everything works fine.
The Marauder was built for me at the MM Glidertech skunkworks shop by
Merrill and Phillip, after they hooked me on it via a test flight at the past
Southwest Classic.
For those of you who don't know the plane, its amazing. Stronger than
winches, and prettier too, it has a very thick section yet literally jets around
the sky! It leaves my SuperAva standing in the dust , course it weighs in at
about 20ozs more...but you can't feel or see that on the clock...as usual I
seldom to never run a flight with out my Talking Timer counting down from
10...and today was some of that challenging air...hot, calm but overcast with
pretty strong winds aloft.
The tow hook location is dead on the mark, incidence is about zero and
balance is at about 5" from the firewall....which means it doesn't indicate
airspeed, it shows lift and sink...and it lands smooth and slow.
The Spoilers are pretty wide and far out on the wing, so almost no elevator
comp is needed to keep the plane on line from any speed when the spoiler are
opened.
Launches are dramatic...very much like a well tuned Pike..Quick rotation and
a very steep climb needing almost no winch pedal to keep it moving. Course I
spent some extra time securing pushrods, servo mountings, shortened arms,
taped the inside and outside of the hinge lines, anything I could do to take
any flex out of the elevator during the launch.
It is a beautiful ship and flys fantastic....pretty excited about
campaigning it some for RES contests...no Freq pin needed! :)
