[LASS Soaring] Went Sloping today

The forcast of 30mph winds was too much to resist. Lee, MJ, and myself
went to Frankfort this afternoon to fly. We were soon joined by Tony and
Graham. Tony was soon ripping the sky with his combat wing. I had three
planes that had to be programed before we could fly.
Lees first launch was with the last flyable Highlander. Too much up and
a stall put the plane in a tree at launch. Flight time 2.34765 seconds.
Or something like that. A quick recovery and some down trim added and
the old plane handled the wind quite well. Lee had it inverted almost as
much as he had it upright. Meanwhile I programed my BAT wing. With
Tony's help in launching I got some quality time with the wing. in that
strong wind it really moved out. Fun! I needed Bruce to show me how to
DS it in that wind.
Finally I got to Michaels old YF-22 Raptor that he built when he was
Lees age. A big heavy plane the YF had never been flown with any
success. Just not enough wind to support it in the air. It is now no
longer a hanger queen because as of today that is all history. In good
air the YF was a sweet flying plane. Rolls are very axile. It's weight
carries it through some very round loops. Split S and inverted flight
are a breeze. There is no mistaking the unique profile in the air. It
will be back the next time the wind is right.

PS: The rotors were awesom
