[LASS Soaring] Went Sloping today

The forcast of 30mph winds was too much to resist. Lee, MJ, and myself 
went to Frankfort this afternoon to fly. We were soon joined by Tony and 
Graham. Tony was soon ripping the sky with his combat wing. I had three 
planes that had to be programed before we could fly.
Lees first launch was with the last flyable Highlander. Too much up and 
a stall put the plane in a tree at launch. Flight time 2.34765 seconds. 
Or something like that. A quick recovery and some down trim added and 
the old plane handled the wind quite well. Lee had it inverted almost as 
much as he had it upright.  Meanwhile I programed my BAT wing. With 
Tony's help in launching I got some quality time with the wing. in that 
strong wind it really moved out. Fun! I needed Bruce to show me how to 
DS it in that wind.
Finally I got to Michaels old YF-22 Raptor that he built when he was 
Lees age. A big heavy plane the YF had never been flown with any 
success. Just not enough wind to support it in the air. It is now no 
longer a hanger queen because as of today that is all history. In  good 
air the YF was a sweet flying plane. Rolls are very axile. It's weight 
carries it through some very round loops. Split S and inverted flight 
are a breeze. There is no mistaking the unique profile in the air. It 
will be back the next time the wind is right.
