[LASS Soaring] "Tony and I flew Tonite, You?"

Tony got pissed, mostly at himself for driving a long ways to Orlando with
planes that didn't have the care and attention they deserved, so this week he
spent a lot of time getting all of his TD ships in flying shape.

One plane that had a bad start on its first flight at the Nats, his
Compulsion, got fixed and was at the field tonite.

It was windy and getting it ready to fly, he found out again that he had
missed some important things to insure a successful flight.

Balance. He had the battery pack out and ended up putting a lighter pack
in, had it launched or even tossed it, likely in that breeze it would have been
trashed. That's why partners check each others work :)

Next he had forgotten to put a screw back in one of the servo horns, luckily
it held for a few flights...but he DID notice it and that shows he is
growing in the hobby.

The first flight was way out of trim, but he didn't just fly it around, he
got it trimmed up so that it flew hands off.

The second flight was amazing. As was the third. Compulsions are Task
Airplanes. They are not for the fun flyer types. The want to be told what to do
all the time, and they will reward you for it.

It doesn't look much like a fancy moldy but it flies as well or better.

We talked about 'learning' the ship, that means work. Tony 'knows' what
that means because he took the time to really learn his AVA. He is not afraid of
wind or calm, or any task. He knows its abilities and respects its limits.

That comes from flying and a desire to learn more about the hobby..and a
desire not to have to do repairs all the time :-)

It is also why he took 6th in Orlando's man on man last Saturday, in a field
of Supra's and Perfects and 15 other top moldies. Pilots and planes that
should have set him at the bottom of that group, but the thing they didn't have
was knowledge of their models and desire to do better at the tasks each time
they show up.

We can be really proud of our teammate's persistence and efforts! He does
LASS proud.

Way to go Tony!
Gordy
