I was totally expecting high winds cold temps and lousy flying.

But same as yesterday (yawn) it was 'let's sucker Gordy into thinking he's
following a real hawk again!"..and sure enough here I was hooting and
hollering about this bird taking me to lift and it turns out to be that darn replica
of Arthur's! It is sooo life like in how it flys and thermals!

Must have been a hundred pilots flying today, not kidding. There were
bungees and winches going everywhere and always 10 to 20 planes in the air.

I just got off the field about an hour ago (8pm) and there was still planes
flying.

Soooo many great sailplanes, it boggles the mind to see them in one place.
Brinks has two guard trucks, their drivers armed with Sirius Chargers, there
are sooo many high buck ships on the field!

I worked on tweaking my World's Heaviest Carbon Supra for part of the
morning (got out there at 10am) and then dug out my Sharon to play with its
settings.

Off the field it was a total and constant buzz going "hey anyone got
some.....?" tweaking, fixing, adding, etc. There are soo many chargers going that
everyone in the pit area has their hair standing up, crackling with energy!

The sun was bright but the temps never really got uncomfortable, the breezes
came with thermals passing other wize it was pretty calm.

A new/old sailplaner showed up to watch from the Cleveland area (Larry) who
is gonna be joining the top pilots in OVSS for sure. This guy hasn't flown
sailplanes for a of years but when I gave him the sticks on the World's
Heaviest Carbon Supra, he had no problem hooking up into a thermal. I was more than
a little mystified cuz its not normal for a 're-turner' to be able to adjust
that fast to a fine tuned super ship.

Then I figured I'd check him out as a caller and I have to tell you this guy
is amazing, he was checking the surrounding planes activity, he was reading
air direction shifts and even offering me left or right to center the cores.

EXTREMELY sharp and I can't wait for him to get back involved. He has a
goal of building up the North Ohio soaring guys back into a force. And if any
one can do it, Larry will.

There was recently a thread about food, well you can bet I know good field
food when I taste it and the caterer at this event has serious BBQ, burgers,
etc.

Pilots meeting at 7:30 tomorrow, first flight about 8:30...a 4min tune up,
then 10s for addemup. The landing is a 'ladder box' with 15, 25, and a 6"
spot for 35.....Not exactly OVSS or ESL, but happy to fly what ever!

Wish you all were here!
Gordy
