Got in about noon, picked up by George Joy of Sirius Charger fame (and one
of the countries top sticks....

When I left Louisville, it was damn cold, and some snow, had a Army
Sweatshirt and jeans on, when I got off the plane in AZ it was almost 80 already!

We went right to the field and some of guys were already flying. Colorado
was there, Barry Kennedy and John Luetke had just arrived and of course a
bunch of the locals getting things ready.

The air was awesome..light breezes and marker birds.

DP was setting up just next to us, mentioning that he was scurrying around
late last night getting the wing servos in! He's had it a couple of weeks but
just hadn't been motivated to work on anything.

So today was maiden flights for his Supra and for him flying a Supra. He
found he's got a bunch of dialing in to do, but his practice landings ended up
with the nose on the spot...not so bad.

By the end of the day I was blown away at the collection of models flying
already, more Supras, Perfects, Avas and Sharons than I think I have ever seen
in one place!

The high light was Arthur M's scale HAWK, yes as in the bird! He launches
it on the back of an electric AVA ! Crazy thing to see, the Hawk is about 60"
span and not small on the back of that AVA but up it goes.

The really crazy thing is that it thermals and really well too. I DID NOT
know that it was flying or existed and every time I would launch I'd run over
to this hawk that was circling in good air...someone finally told me that it
wasn't a real bird!

Dead tired, we left the field about 5pm for some ribs and beer. Everything
is on charge tonite, so should be ready to run tomorrow.

I programmed my Supra with JW's 'thermal' mode program, and wow! At first I
had too much camber but after I got that dialed in right, it is amazing at
how bouyant it makes the plane in even neutral air!

I never experimented with presets for camber before, not even on the World's
Heaviest Carbon Supra, which I find out is designed for, guess I should have
read the instructions :-)

Sharon's along, and likely will be the bird for this weekend, and Super AVA
is along for battle too.

We'll see :)

Nite!
