As far as the freq conflicts are concerned, I believe that devices on
2.4GHzscan for available channels before transmitting.  In other
words, if the
band is too crowded when you switch on your Tx, it may not begin
transmitting immediately.  So the chance of shooting somebody down remains
remote.  There is the mixing of brands issue, but regardless of manufacturer
they are all supposed to adhere to the 2.4 "rules".  I have learned during
my years working with machine controls (and operators) that nothing is
foolproof.  Just like our current system, as long as everybody plays by the
rules it works fine.
