The Louisville club guys got together to string new line on our winches and
to test the new motors etc...
It was hot but comfortable with light thermal breezes pulling cool air
across the field.
We finished up at about 10:30 so I decided to go for the
two CONSEQUTIVE 2min precision flight tasks with 3meter landings,
and the three 15min duration flights (5meter landings)
and the two consequtive 5meter landings
I forgot my Bronze level task sheet so thought I needed three 2minute
precision flight consequtive, which I did, so wasted time on one :-)
Ben Wilson and his JW Onyx, Little Lee flying his Spirit Elite and myself
decided to make the 15's a man on man event since we had three winches set out.
Lee landed a little early but both Ben and I maxed and got 90+ landings
each.
We took a short break, shagged the chutes and top off our charges before the
next round. We got a snaggle when Lee launched so we brought him down,
worked on the line and so more time passed.
We got everyone up again but the sun was getting to Lee, so he had to bail
early to get in the shade.
Ben chose the wrong direction and found some the horrendous sink that was
from the tremendous lift I hooked into....(Sharon, what do you expect?).
He had switched to his Xtail Mantis (Agea) and inspite of really getting
crushed worked low lift for another 5 mins or so, I don't think he ever was over
25' for the whole time...really amazing flying. When he decides to get
serious about TD contesting, likely he'll be up there with the top 10 guys in the
country.
I maxed it and got a hundred landing, so that put two of the Bronze 15's on
the board, but I'd had enough sun, everyone wanted to pack up, so I got Lee
to time me for the three consecutive Precision 2minute flights. (really its
only two, but I forgot and did three in a row.) That's a 2min flight, landed
with in 3m with in 2 seconds plus or minus.
I zipped em up, knocked em down and we went home....everything done but one
of the 15's :-( And not because of a lack of lift, but because of a lack of
time and energy. :-(
Would have been cool to get it all done in one day, but not.
Silver is the next level and YIPES...6 30's! 3 Precision 2s, but with 1.5
meter landings to count!
Could you do it? Guess using that Talking Timer religiously and a landing
tape does pay off.
