We had two planes, MPX Easy Glider and Highlander.

The Highlander has been thru hell and back because of walk up wanna be
pilots used it to its near death too many times, fortunately it stopped getting
repaired and they finally went away.

Yet having had that experience under its wing saddle, it's still one heck of
a flying machine.

The air was steamy from the hard rain we had last nite and the 90+ degree
temps.

We started with no wind, then quickly moved to shifting gusts.

While it was possible to get up and out, mostly the altitude limit was about
300'.

6 pilots walked up to the line to do MOM battle. Ben Wilson was CD, deciding
on three rounds of 6min flights and 25 points for knocking over one of two
quart water bottles.

Each flight pilots alternated ships to fly, so we all had to fly each...on
the last round the leading pilot had his choice of which plane to fly....and
someone else had to do the winch pedaling. Mostly Ben and I since we were used
to launching the two planes the most.

Little Lee faced off against Brian (DLG guy) on the final flight, but got
some really skunky air, while Brian got a max, crushing that 11 year old ;-)

Ben flew against Ed in the final round and neither did too well, that left
Bruce and myself. Bruce had the choice and he chose my Easy Glider, launching
directly into lift. We had the line down and hooked up to the Highlander.
Ben was on the pedal, but the line snuffled a bit and the plane popped off
almost immediately. I brought it around as fast as possible which caused it to
spin in on touch down, knocking off the rubber bands (in the mean time Bruce
was enjoying the tiny view of the Easy ).

By the time the Highlander was ready, the lift cycle was longgg gone,,, and
I was lucky to get it back to the field from the launch!
Final Results:
1 Bruce Davidson
2 Ed Wilson
3 Ben Wilson
4 Brian
5 Me
6 Lee the kid

It was a ball! I think the average flight time was like 1:45mins! So
didn't take too long :-)

You should have been there!
Gordy
