I agree with Gordy. If people want to go to contests they will. If they don't, they will make excuses. Much more likely a newbie mentions to the wife that he is going to go to a contest, then gets "you'll be gone how long?!?" and "You're going where?!?" And more 3rd degree. I posted write ups about all my contests last year (and all one of them this year) on 'groups and after coming in last at the Mid South, some cat commented that me flying a 2 meter against unlimited ships was like "going to a gun fight with a knife". This probably has some truth to it, but Rob Glover (some folks call him Bubba) had probably the best piece of advice. Fly the plane you have and take your wife out to a nice dinner. That's probably the best recipie for going to contests....
I disagree though that there is not a market for mid level ~$500 contest ships. Denny seems to sell out of Thermal Dancers as soon as he gets them.... I also disagree that speed 400 ships are boring (flew my e-Allegro today, working on 10 minute flights and landings on an FAI tape from 1.5 minute motor runs). But those of course are just opinions. :-)
Best of luck everyone on your LSF/CSS tasks Sunday.
Ryan
