Ben, Your coverage was really great. I read it and copied it everyday.

John, your argument is one that gets trotted out every few years.

Stop and think about it a second....what is the point of going to the Nats
with a 'competitive' glider?

If you aren't a pilot who practices the tasks and have honed your air
reading and landing technique, its stilly to bother getting an expensive  ship;
sort of like you buying a Stratovarius Violin then taking lessons.

However IF you are the kind of pilot who has been 'working' at improving his
air and landing skills....'that' is what justifies the cost of a new
model...the work, not the prize.

Lets keep in mind that by winning the Nats, you get a trophy, not exactly
worth the cost of current top ship, so then why would guys spend the money..if
its not about winning a trophy?

You can go to the Nats, stay at the finest motel with jacuzzi, eat steak and
lobster (like me:-) or do it Ben style, tents and peanut butter...in the end
its about the flying and frendships.

Both of those two things are available each Thursday evening and
Sundays...right on our own field....fly what you bring :-)

They buy them because they can and because they want to.

Going to the Nats to fly ...get it, they go to fly. You can fly your planes,
or other planes, foamies or carbon.
