But as far as "two ounces either way won't put an extra  minute per toss 
on the board" - I'd have to disagree with you  there.
Maneuverability, nimbleness, ability to tightly thermal - those things  
are really, really important on any sailplane, and especially on a DLG.  

Same arguments I picked up from my Carbon Tube routing on the  Supra...its 
gonna make it heavy!
 
Its sort of like arguing about Safety.  Who can argue that  being Safe is a 
'good' thing at any cost?
 
I mean when would it be 'okay' to be un safe?

Would out sit in a court of law and argue it was okay to be  un-safe?
 
It is not 'okay' for a DLG to be heavier, yet across the country  many many 
very light XP'x's got defeated in a court of field :-)
 
If Ben and Bruce had the heavy ass Blaster 2 and I had the XP5  at Denny's 
contest, what do you think the  order of our finishes would be?  :-)
